Caring for your corset

It is highly advisable to always keep something between your skin and the corset to reduce damage from sweat and oils from your skin. Never store your corset rolled up with the laces wrapped around it, as this can warp and damage the corset. Either lay the corset flat, or hang it with the hanger in between the laces.

Wearing your corset for the first time takes a bit of breaking it in. Make sure the laces are loose enough before putting it on, as this can damage the corset or break the busk. After you get the corset on, lace it up so that it fits snugly, but not overly tight. Wear your corset for roughly half an hour, moving around in it to have to mold a bit to your body. After you have done this, you will notice it feels a bit looser. Go ahead and tighten it, but again do not over-do it. Wear it for about another 45 minutes to an hour. Make sure that you make the laces loose enough to easily remove the corset. Be sure to do these steps several times before wearing your corset for an extended amount of time.

DO NOT let anyone borrow your corset! Once you have broken it in, it will be molded to your body, and letting anyone else wear it will make it mold slightly to them and warp it.

For cleaning, your corset should never be submerged in water as it contains steel that may rust. If your corset develops a smell from being worn, spray the inside down with Febreeze lightly. Make sure not to saturate the fabric. For spot cleaning, as crazy as this sounds, get the cheapest vodka you can, pour some on a washcloth or the like, and lightly dab the material where the spot is. For those who wear their corsets frequently, you can take your corset to a dry cleaner, but make sure they are fully aware that there is steel inside that is not to be removed or submerged in water.

Corset Construction

All of our corsets are hand made with extraordinary attention to detail and quality. We use only steel for our boning (flat, or spring, and spiral). No plastic here! All of our grommets are 2 piece units. All seams are double stitched for added stability. All corsets include a waist tape to distribute stress on the seams evenly and reduce premature wear on your corset. We hand draft all of our patterns to your specific measurements to ensure proper fit.
